Your company has received a lawsuit, a payment order or another court document from another country, often in a foreign language.
What matters now
- Do not put it aside: the deadlines follow the procedural law of the court’s country and can be short. A default judgment may be enforceable in your country.
- Record the date of service and check whether service was effective.
- Objections to the court’s jurisdiction must be raised early; entering an appearance on the merits can establish it.
- On site you usually need a lawyer admitted there. If the proceedings are in Germany, I can represent you directly; otherwise I coordinate with local counsel and remain your contact.
- At the same time, check whether proceedings in another country make sense.

- the document with envelope, translation and proof of service
- the underlying contract with general terms
- the correspondence with the other side
- details of assets or branches abroad
