Professional titles
The professional titles Rechtsanwalt (lawyer admitted to practise in Germany) and Fachanwalt für Informationstechnologierecht (certified specialist in information technology law) were conferred in the Federal Republic of Germany. I also work as a Mediator.

Fees and scope of engagement
Unless otherwise agreed, fees for legal services are charged under the German Lawyers’ Remuneration Act (Rechtsanwaltsvergütungsgesetz, RVG). Statutory fees are calculated on the basis of the value in dispute (Gegenstandswert), not on time spent, and increase with that value.
Where a fee agreement is concluded instead, remuneration is generally charged at an hourly rate. I will discuss this with you before taking on the matter.
Please clarify the intended scope of your instructions without delay, as it determines the fees incurred. I am entitled to request reasonable advance payments. If anything in my correspondence is unclear, please ask.
An engagement comes into effect only once I have expressly confirmed it or have begun work on the matter.
Terms of engagement and language
My terms of engagement and service descriptions apply in the version in force at the time the contract is concluded. They are currently available in German at bauer.legal/bedingungen and bauer.legal/leistungen; an English version will be provided to you before any engagement is concluded.
Initial enquiries are welcome in German, English or Spanish. Engagements themselves, including the contractual documentation and — for consumers — the statutory information on the right of withdrawal, are handled in German or English.
Confidentiality
Emails from this office are intended solely for the named recipient and may contain information subject to legal professional privilege. If you receive a message in error, please notify me and delete it; forwarding or copying is not permitted.
Security and data protection
Email is unencrypted and therefore insecure. Messages may be intercepted, read or altered before delivery. I am happy to communicate using encryption — please let me know, and we will find a solution that works for you. You may object to communication by email at any time.
For encrypted correspondence you may use the German judicial mailbox (Justizpostfach), or ask me for my current public PGP key.
Your data is processed in order to handle your matter and is deleted once the statutory retention periods have expired. You have the right of access, rectification, restriction of processing, erasure, data portability and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Consumer dispute resolution
I am neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. Disputes concerning fees may be submitted to the conciliation body of the German bar (Schlichtungsstelle der Rechtsanwaltschaft), schlichtungsstelle-der-rechtsanwaltschaft.de.
