I. Preparation Phase

- Information gathering and preliminary review
- Contacting the parties – if applicable, a preparatory meeting with the (individual) parties
- Clarifying the mandate
- Mediation agreement
II. Mediation Phase – Mediation Discussion
- Introduction
- Positions / problem definition / agenda
- Clarifying the conflict and interests
- Developing options / negotiations
- Problem-solving / agreement
III. Post-Mediation Phase / Implementation Phase
- Review of the agreement by third parties (e.g. the parties’ lawyers)
- If applicable, formal recognition and ratification (e.g. notarial certification, court)
- Monitoring compliance with the agreement
- Mediators’ reflection / debriefing
- If applicable, follow-up
