A few sentences are enough: what it is about, who is involved, whether anything is urgent. If you have received a letter, simply send it along. You can write to me in English or German.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">With my first reply, you will usually receive an assessment: where you stand, what makes sense next, and whether an initial consultation is worthwhile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:1.5rem\">What happens next<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">After the first contact, we discuss how to proceed. This may be an <a href=\"https:\/\/bauer.legal\/en\/erstberatung\/\">initial consultation<\/a>; often that settles the matter. If you would like me to act, we clarify in advance what I take on and how it will be billed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Before anything goes out, you will usually receive a draft to read over. The decisions are yours; I will tell you openly what I consider sensible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:1.5rem\">What saves time and money<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>All at once:<\/strong> Send whatever you have on the matter in one go, ideally as PDFs with meaningful file names, and for web pages the link or a screenshot. A rough chronological order is enough.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Rather in writing:<\/strong> I can plan written requests and answer them with care. You are of course still welcome to call.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Collect questions:<\/strong> Several small questions can be dealt with in one go.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>One contact person:<\/strong> In a company, it helps if one person holds the threads together.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Speak openly:<\/strong> including the awkward points. What I know early on will not come as a surprise later.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Check drafts promptly:<\/strong> You know the facts best.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Give me a quick heads-up:<\/strong> when a deadline is running or before you reply to a letter yourself.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Stay reachable:<\/strong> Let me know if you will be unavailable for a longer period or if your email address changes.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Mention legal expenses insurance right away:<\/strong> Then it can be clarified early on whether and what the <a href=\"https:\/\/bauer.legal\/en\/legal-expenses-insurance\/\">insurance<\/a> covers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:1.5rem\">Wherever you are<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Most conversations take place by phone or video call, other things in writing, for example by email. That way, a legal question can be dealt with easily alongside day-to-day business, wherever you are based. We discuss drafts on a shared screen, participants at other sites or abroad join without travelling, and whatever is handled in writing is on record and can be traced at any time. Appointments can be found at short notice, and no hour is lost on travel.
