Especially during periods when work cannot be allowed to pile up, adequate self-protection against illness is part of one&#8217;s duty toward oneself and toward one&#8217;s clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">While protection against infection through food, water, sexual contact, or smear infection already enjoys broad social acceptance, the picture still looks rather bleak when it comes to protection against airborne infection, that is, infection transmitted through the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Since the pathways of airborne infection \u2014 via droplets or aerosols \u2014 are now well researched, and suitable protective techniques exist, avoiding infection is possible here too \u2014 and is therefore advisable, in order to avoid unnecessary liability risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The &#8220;Swiss cheese&#8221; principle applies here: each layer of infection protection has holes, just like a slice of Swiss cheese, but stacking these measures together creates an almost impenetrable barrier against infection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Depending on the scenario, these protective measures include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A well-fitted mask<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An appropriate vaccination<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keeping distance, in particular from symptomatic people<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ventilation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HEPA filtration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Testing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Typical scenarios include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Professional appointments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Private appointments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Travel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">The effort required for optimal protection is certainly considerable, but it generally pays for itself after just a few &#8220;saved&#8221; assignments.
